Distant Therapy for Fertility with Customized Herbal Medicine
Provided by Jenn Collins, L.Ac, MSOM

Many fertility issues can be treated with just herbal medicine, supplements, and lifestyle changes. Acupuncture is helpful in the treatment of fertility, but many issues can be treated with customized herbal formulas for women during various phases of the menstrual cycle. The herbs are modified to each woman’s unique pattern diagnosis and changed frequently due to information gained in the women’s basal body temperatures and symptom progression throughout the cycle. The client does not necessarily have to live near the herbalist to take advantage of this personalized care. Phone consultations are a private way to connect with Jenn Collins L.Ac. to formulate a personal treatment plan and to monitor the couple’s fertility journey.

Jenn has treated many women and men struggling with fertility with only herbs. Herbal prescriptions have been used to change hormone levels, regulate menstrual cycles, increase uterine blood flow, reduce endometriosis, eliminate PCOS, prevent recurrent miscarriage, increase sperm quality and quantity, and in some cases to even open fallopian tube blockages. Due to the nature of being able to tailor and customize each formula, herbs can offer very individualized care and can be much more effective than OTC generic fertility formulations. Clients that consult with Jenn often get quicker results than people that use store bought pre-made fertility remedies. After 4 months of regular herbal therapy, Jenn should be able to determine if this treatment strategy is viable and should be continued, and in some cases for how long. Fertility is often a long road for most couples. Even working with western doctors can take upwards of 6 months to achieve pregnancy. Customized herbal remedies can often enhance western fertility treatments and also can increase success rates of some western medical procedures like IUI, and IVF treatments. Herbal medicine can also help to mitigate side effects incurred during the use of many of the western fertility medications.

How does a phone consultation work?

A perspective fertility client calls the clinic and asks to schedule a phone consultation with Jenn Collins, L.Ac, MSOM. Jenn will phone or Skype the client at the designated time. During the initial consultation, Jenn will interview the couple regarding fertility and menstrual history. Jenn will form a differential diagnosis for each couple and recommend a treatment strategy. Often Jenn will request to see test results for FSH, Estrogen, Progesterone, sperm analysis, and any other tests a couple or woman has undergone. BBT charts are required of clients for the first 3 months of treatment. These will be emailed to Jenn each  week before the consultation.

During weekly scheduled phone sessions, Jenn will review current BBT charts, test results, questions, and herbal formulations. Herbs then will be formulated after each phone consult and then mailed to the client. Jenn may decide to modify the herbal formula or to order more tests at that time. Herbs will also be modified for each phase of the menstrual cycle. Jenn will then inform the client of when the next phone meeting should be scheduled. Email will be used during periods between phone consultations to clarify and answer brief questions. Once a woman, man, or couple has gone through 1-2 months of weekly consultations, the phone sessions become less frequent. There will be less of a need to check in so frequently and therefore the sessions may also be shorter in duration. As things progress, and clients begin to see positive changes in the BBT chart, Jenn will determine the frequency of the consulting sessions.

If a client does have a local acupuncturist, Jenn can also consult with that practitioner to prescribe acupuncture points tailored for each specific client during each phase of the cycle. Phone and email time will be charged at standard treatment rates at the clinic. Herbs will be charged by weight and shipping.
